Kindergarten:
PYP Unit: Our School

The children will listen to stories that show what students do at school and their responsibilities as a member of a school.  Books such as The Rainbow Fish, David Goes to School, First Grade Stinks and Chrysanthemum will help to introduce PYP Attitudes such as respect, and social skills such as accepting responsibility and cooperation.

1-2:
PYP Unit: We the People

This unit will begin by reading some fiction stories that demonstrate the roles of values, attitudes, needs, and wants when making group decisions in our families, school, and community.  We the Kids and The Village of Round and Square Houses depict group decision making.  A Read-Aloud play, “Emma's Day Off” illustrates that what members of a community do, has an effect on the whole community.  The story of Miss Rumphius shows how an individual can make a contribution to his or her community.

Third grade:
PYP Unit: Sharing Spaces

During this unit of study, the students will take a look at the continent of North America and focus on various cultures and how the countries of Canada, Mexico, and the United States of America share resources and work together.  Non-fiction books along with folktales will be read during our group time.  The reference Room will also be used to work on mapping skills and to obtain additional information about the continent of North America.
